ROBERTO DIAGO DURRUTI

(b. 1971) graduated from the Academia de Artes Plásticas “San Alejandro” in 1990. He has exhibited his work extensively in Cuba and throughout the world, including in solo exhibitions at the Torco Gallery, Cantabria, Spain (2008); ARCO, Madrid, Brownstone Foundation, Paris, and the Pan American Art Gallery, Dallas, TX (2005). His work has been included in group exibitions: Confluences: Inside, Contemporary Cuban Art, Zapopan Museum of Art, MAZ, Mexico (2007); Afrocuba: Works on Paper, 1968-2003, organized by the Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, which traveled throughout the world. He has received important prizes including an award of Distinction from the Cuban Ministry of Culture (2002); the Prix Amédée Maratier from the Fondation du Francais Judaism (1999) awarded for the first time to a Latin American artist. Diago participated in Queloides I (1997), in Without Masks (Johannesburg Art Gallery, 2010), and in Queloides: Race and Racism in Cuban Contemporary
